How to choose the right diet plan?

Well, basically there are a few things that you should look out for when it comes to choosing the right diet plan for you. You need to know what kind of lifestyle you lead and what kind of commitments that you can put in. After identifying that, you then find the diet plans that best connects to your daily lifestyle and needs.

For a clear example, if you are a vegetarian, there is not point for you to follow Atkins diet because you can take meat or seafood because people on the Atkins diet largely consume those. You see what I mean?

The other thing that you should look out for is the amount that these diet plans asks you to eat. I do not want to name any brand but there is a diet out there that asks the clients to eat two shakes a day and one single meal a day! Come on, with such low calorie intake, of course you will starve to a thin body!

Also, look for diets that ask you to eliminate certain food groups for a long period of time. Your body needs all the food groups available to us to properly function and to function at optimum levels.

Good diet plans promote low GI carbs, which are loaded with fibers, vitamins and minerals. These diets also advocate consuming healthy fats like olive oil, Omega 3 and flex seed oil. These diet programs also usually asks you to eat smaller but frequent meals and drink loads of water.

Low fat and low cholesterol meats are also frequent in these diets. Lean proteins such as fish, chicken breast, turkey and egg whites are excellent choices.

Good diet plans also does not give you very attractive unreachable goals. Instead, they help you set proper achievable small mile stone goals that ultimately lead you to your target body weight. Do not hope more that 2 pounds a week of body fat loss. That’s unhealthy.

There are so far two good diet plans out there that I recommend. The first one is the diet that I have always preached about which is the Burn The Fat Feed The Muscle program. This is a good diet plan simply because it promotes long term fat loss through proper nutrition and feeding the muscle with high quality food.

There are not many good diet plans out there that promotes muscle building. This program outlines the diet, the exercise and it also includes lots of free books on body fat analysis and also fatty food to avoid and fat burning foods to eat.

The other diet plan is the South Beach Diet. A doctor, Dr. Arthur Agatston, develops the South Beach Diet. He is a well-respected cardiologist. This diet looks really good and trust worthy because it focuses on high quality low GI carbs and also allows you to eat certain of your favorite foods and still lose weight.

So remember to look out for these elements when you choose your diet program. Do not get fooled by promises and ridiculous hopes that are thrown out by useless diets. Go for long term instead.

For your diet to work, remember, you need to exercise. It is a must! It is the other part of the weight loss equation. Dieting plus exercising will always triumph! Workout at least 3-4 times a week to get optimum results.
